Many people do not duckhunt because they feel that they must own or have access to a retriever.  There are many variable conditions which may make dog ownership impossible or inconvenient for every hunter.  The location where one lives,  the costs of purchasing, training, feeding and caring for a dog and human illnesses are also factors.
